A new concept for Australian poker will make its debut tonight when the first episode of livestream poker show Pirate Poker is broadcast live from the Gold Coast.
Pirate Poker is the brainchild of local content producer Curtis Walker and is best described as a pirate-themed, creator led poker entertainment series in which established poker players, influencers, creators, entertainers and athletes compete for the honour of becoming the first Pirate Poker Champion.
The series will feature a five-episode structure comprising four qualifying rounds – the top two from each will progress – and a championship final where the eight qualifying survivors will battle it out for the title.
The first of those qualifying rounds will be streamed live from 7pm AEST tonight, Thursday 23 July, utilizing an RFID feature table, live commentary and a full broadcast setup. The episode can be viewed at this link: https://m.twitch.tv/lcapoker?desktop-redirect=true.
Walker told PokerMedia Australia, “The concept is built around live streamed poker games featuring creators, personalities and poker players, with a strong focus on storytelling, competition and production value. The goal is to make something entertaining for existing poker fans while also bringing new people into the game.”
The longer-term vision, he added, is to develop Pirate Poker into a repeatable live-streaming format, including creator-led tournaments and potential touring seasons.
Full episodes will also be released on YouTube, supported by highlights and player stories across social media.
The innovative new concept will see Bris Vegas Casino Nites join the project as official dealer partner, while Pirate Gold Poker Chips is supplying prizes for the qualifying winners and the finale.
