Rising local star Josh Duce has secured by far the biggest win of his burgeoning career and picked up his first Aussie Millions trophy in the process by taking down the $1,500 Opening Event on Tuesday night.
Duce, whose live career earnings heading into the series stood at just over $280,000, outlasted a record crowd of 2,144 players to take home the $438,000 first prize and etch his name into the Aussie Millions history books.
A regular on the local circuit, Duce’s previous best score was $48,256 for a fourth-place finish in the $5K Challenge at WPT Prime Gold Coast in 2024.
He was one of 20 players to return on the final day of the Opening Event before outlasting a final table that included overnight chip leader Spencer Davies, popular Sydneysider Michel Bouskila plus the likes of Adrian Indovino and runner-up Eng Chhor – the latter having cruelly ended Mishel Anunu’s run with a brutal beat on the final table bubble.
Tuesday proved to be a big day for those names Josh, with Joshua Cram also taking down the $1.5K Hyper Turbo Event for $46,640. The event attracted 48 entries with the final table featuring plenty of familiar names, including Western Australian crusher Travis Endersby, South Australia’s Nick Williams plus Martin Finger and Natalia Rozova.
All eyes now turn to the final day of the $5K Challenge as 16 players return to fight for the $341,635 top prize. Notables in the running include Andy Lee, Lachlan Crilly, Joe Sandaev, Higor Siebel, Rehman Kassam – and of course the defending WSOP Main Event champion Michael Mizrachi!
