End of Day for Joe Hachem Annual Feature; shootout tomorrow
The exciting Joe Hachem Annual Feature event hit 24 players remaining at approximately 10pm local time.
That mark of the tournament does trigger a redraw to four 6-Max tables, where the players will play “shoot-out” style; the last two surviving players on each table will then merge onto a final table of 8 players.
Christos Andreadis bagged the chip lead for Day 1, followed incredibly closely by both Mishel Anunu and New Zealand’s Thomas Ward – all three players within one big blind of each other.
Anunu scored a massive pot near the end of Day 1 courtesy of APT CEO Tony Hachem; Anunu, holding K♦K♣, opened preflop and saw Hachem defend with J♥10♣. Hachem check-raised Anunu on the 10♠5♥4♣ flop before both players checked the 4♦ turn.
Hachem would then check once more on the J♣ river (yes, Tayla was dealing) before hitting the tank as Anunu fired 120,000 – a full pot sized bet – in his face. Hachem couldn’t find the fold, tossing in a call and watching as the 364,000 pot was pushed towards Anunu.
Hachem did still find a bag though; bringing up the bottom of the counts with 71,000. The same could not be said for the titular Joe Hachem; Australia’s 2005 WSOP Main Event Champion hitting the rail earlier in the day.

Joe Hachem Annual Feature underway on stream
A new tournament on the schedule at APT Brisbane, the Joe Hachem Annual Feature Event has kicked off today.
The tournament is a structure playing with what’s possible – the brainchild of Australia’s own 2005 WSOP Champion Joe Hachem, once the tournament is in the money, random players will have $1,650 bounties placed on them. For those players that do become a bounty, they will get their tournament rake refunded.
As an added twist, once the tournament reaches 24 players, it will transform into a shootout-like format, with four tables of 6 players battling it out to heads up before the last two players on each table will merge for the final table.
The APTLive stream has been set up for Joe Hachem’s table, where he is joined by the likes of Amin Riyazati, Mishel Anunu, Ruiyang Wang, and Chris “Dipper” Zenonos, commentated by Australian Poker Schedule‘s Craig Abernethy. Quan Zhou wins TLPT $25K International
Four might be considered an unlucky number in his home nation of China, but Quan Zhou is currently ranked fourth on China’s All Time Money List and showing no signs of slowing down.
The 40yr old professional has a resume most would be envious of, including a seven-figure score for a 5th place finish in the Triton Poker SHR Monte Carlo just last year. Other notable results include two WPT titles (in the WPT World Championship $10K PLO and WPT Korea NL 2-7 SD), a 2023 EPT Cyprus Mystery Bounty title, a Triton Poker SHR Jeju $25K PLO win, and a 2017 PokerStars Championship Macau title. Just a couple of months ago, Zhou added a PGT Super High Roller Bowl title to his accolades.
Other non-win accomplishments include 4th in the WSOP Paradise $100K SHR, a runner-up finish in WPT Alpha8 One Drop Korea, and a runner-up finish in the Triton Poker SHR Monte Carlo $20K PLO just a week after his Main Event final table in the same series.
For his TLPT $25K International title, Zhou will add $332,250 to his lifetime earnings – by our quick calculations that will leave him just US$15K shy of an incredible US$10million all time.
Kang jam
Yoon Kang found one double against the dominating stack of Quan Zhou, but a few hands later, it was all over. Three-bet jamming Q♣10♣ for 3,985,000 over Zhou’s 265,000 open, it would be snap called by Zhou with 9♦9♣.
Flipping to win the title, the cards rained all around Kang as they fell K♠K♦8♥7♥J♠, ultimately not enough to overcome the pocket pair of Zhou.
Kang may well have himself a new fan base, though – after a confirmed error in Wednesday’s TLPT Main Event saw him eliminated by Alex Lynskey, many were hoping to see Kang succeed today, a feeling which was only bolstered after Kang made a series of incredible plays during yesterdays session.
Kang, who won his $25K entry into this event as a by-product of being the unfortunate bubble boy in last year’s TLPT $25K International, has certainly spun it up and made it all back with interest.

All over for Lin
Quan Zhou was making moves in the earlier portion, including turning everyone’s favourite 6♣9♣ into a straight flush on a J♠7♣8♣3♦5♣ board, moving to more than 8.5million in chips after that hand.
Gary Lin, in the mean time, was free falling down to eventually find a shove with K♥J♥ for his last 1,345,000 (11BB), called by big stack Zhou with A♥8♠.
The flop of 5♣3♦A♠ couldn’t have been much better for Zhou; Lin effectively drawing dead and unable to find any assistance on the 4♥, 6♣ run out to hit the rail with a $120,000 pay day.

Triple threat
Late into Wednesday night it became apparent that The Lord Poker Tournament $25K International would not reach a Champion, as the final table battled through the bubble.
When play concluded, just three remained – Yoon Kang, Quan Zhou, and Gary Lin.
Kang earned a blog update all to himself yesterday after pulling off two outrageous bluffs against two of Australia’s absolute best players. He bagged up the chip lead last night, with just under half of the chips in play.
Quan Zhou, who will come back second in chips, sits 4th on China’s All Time Money List, with over US$9M in lifetime earnings.
Gary Lin is our short stack as we get underway, but don’t discount him. The Malaysian-born adopted Aussie continues to go from strength to strength, but has yet to find his first major title – the closest he came, along with his biggest score, was 4th in the 2023 WPT Australia Championship Main Event for $308,499.
