APL releases full 83-event schedule for upcoming APL Million

The Australian Poker League has released its full schedule for the upcoming 2024 APL Million, with the series set to feature a record 83 events and an estimated series prize pool of around $10 million.

The APL Million will run from 9 to 26 August at Southport Sharks, with buy-ins starting from as low as $80 and climbing to $5,000 for the High Roller Shot Clock Challenge. This will be the third year in a row the series has been held at Southport Sharks.

While the massive schedule will ensure there is no shortage of options for players at any levels or bankroll, all eyes will be on the $1,500 buy-in Main Event featuring no less than 10 Day 1 flights and boasting an estimated prize pool of $3 million. Last year’s main event – won by Malaysian crusher Sean Ooi – stands as the largest live poker tournament ever held on Aussie shores, with its 2,496 entries generating a prize pool of $3,244,800 and a first prize of $585,000.

Other highlights of the schedule include the $1,150 Opening Event, the $2,500 High Roller PLO, and of course traditional APL favourites the Jackstar and The Centurion.

In comments to PMA, APLPT Business manager Tom Bower said, “Joel Williams and I have spent months polishing the schedule to deliver 83 events across all price points. We have reworked the floorplan, the dealer roster and the schedule to ensure we can sit the overwhelming number of players we expect.

“Last year, we hosted almost 20,000 players and generated over $10,000,000 in prize pools, including hosting the largest tournament that has ever been staged in Australia. We are on track to exceed all of these numbers with over 1,000 satellite entries in the Main Event before the first card is even pitched. This is a mammoth series you cannot afford to miss.”
