The World Poker Tour is back in Australia with WPT Prime Gold Coast kicking off this week at The Star Gold Coast.

This year sees the WPT Prime Gold Coast series expanded by 50% with 21 events compared with last year’s 14 and buy-ins ranging from $330 all the way up to $20,000. That’s right, the maximum buy-in has doubled from $10,000 in 2023 to $20,000 in this year’s Super High Roller, which takes place across two days from next Thursday 18 April.

The Main Event itself features a $2,000 buy-in with three Day 1 flights on 19, 20 and 21 April, plus a larger 40k starting stack versus 30k this time last year. Will that be enough to top the 1,224 entries in last year’s Main Event, won by China’s Sheng Ye for $358,453?

Other notable events on the schedule include the popular $5k Challenge, the thrill of the $1,350 Mystery Bounty and the $3k PLO High Roller, while there are six events with buy-ins below $500.

Among them is the $450 “The Lifesaver” Surf Lifesaving Charity Event on Saturday 13 April, with all admin fees to be donated to Surf Life Saving Queensland.

WPT Prime Gold Coast serves as a tasty precursor to September’s WPT Australia series, scheduled to run from 5 to 25 September, and the WPT World Championship in Las Vegas from 3 to 23 December.

The winner of the WPT Prime Gold Coast Main Event will win a seat into the WPT Prime World Championship in December while the Player of the Festival will win an $8k seat into the WPT Australia Main Event.
