Eu sou brasileiro! Higor Seibel dominates to claim DeepStacks Adelaide Main Event title

At the culmination of a fantastic fortnight of poker at Stacked Social in North Adelaide, the DeepStacks Adelaide Main Event has come to a fast and furious close.

Higor Seibel has emerged as champion, turning his overnight chip lead into a trophy and $54,000 in cold, hard cash.

It didn’t take long for Seibel to spring to life on Monday. After Orange Zhang eliminated John Mere and Rosario Lepro in 9th and 8th respectively, Seibel proceeded to eliminate every single of the remaining players himself, including Zhang in a massive three way all-in that resulted in a double knockout.

Speaking with PokerMedia Australia post-event and asked about what was going through his mind throughout the day, Seibel was understated, saying “I had my strategy in place to do whatever I need to do. I need to be very thankful, everything went my way and I ran very well, even with so many good players on the table.”

The Brazilian expat, resplendent in the Brasilia football team jersey that he wears for final tables, credits “putting a lot of effort into studying outside of the game. A lot of people see me winning today but they don’t know where I’ve come from … I’ve been playing since I was a teenager, I came to Australia as a professional poker player, and for the last 18 months I have been dedicated full time to poker.”
