Adelaide’s Gary Lin takes the clear chip lead into Day 3 of the WPT Australia main event, cutting a swathe through the field on an eventful day at The Star Gold Coast.

Lin, who made the final table of the WPT Prime Main Event here in March where he finished sixth, is in in great shape to improve on that result this week – soaring to an early chip lead and then bursting the money bubble with a double knock-out on the last hand of the evening. You can check out our interview with Lin here.

He leads fellow Adelaide local Zhifan Ye and Japan’s Yuto Suzuki as the only three players sitting above the 1 million mark, while Lin is on the verge of cracking 2 million in chips.

Also in contention are the likes of 2020 Aussie Millions main event champion Vincent “Wonky” Wan, 2019 WSOP Player of the Year Robert Campbell, plus Ken Demlakian, Jarrod Thatcher, Yita Choong, Romain Morvan, Hamish Crawshaw, Adrian Pacheco, Dale Marsland, Janet Wyvill, Khac-trung Tran, Martin Kozlov and Sean Ragozzini.

Of the 227 players who returned on Sunday, just 73 have progressed with all now in the money and guaranteed a minimum $12,555 payday. However, they will be eying the impressive $838,890 top prize, which also comes with a WPT World Championship package worth $16,000.

The top eight finishers will all secure six-figure sums.
