Adam Thaggard reigns supreme in WPT Australia Mystery Bounty

Adam Thaggard has absolutely dominated in this year’s WPT Australia Mystery Bounty at The Star Gold Coast, completing the ‘Grand Slam’ as he bulldozed his way to victory.

The young Queenslander started Day 2 with only 14 big blinds, but amidst the chaos, which saw 34 players eliminated in a little over an hour, Thaggard struck gold with his first four bounties, including one of two $25,000 bounties before heading into the break as second chip leader behind Remi Burucoa.

Thaggard’s pure run continued, when he then pulled the $100,000 top bounty – a new Australian record for any Mystery Bounty tournament – and from there, he was unable to be stopped at the final table, eventually defeating Loy Abdo heads-up for a winning payout of $120,743, in addition to his 18 bounties and a $6,000 WPT Prime Championship Passport.

Thaggard also replicated the efforts of Chris Tran, who performed the same feat in this exact same tournament at WPT Australia last year, whilst Seyed Nasab completed the ‘Grand Slam’ at the Sydney Champs, also in 2022.
