PMA PREVIEW: 2023 WPT Prime Gold Coast

The World Poker Tour (WPT) is now setting itself up for what will undoubtedly be another massive year down under with the return of the WPT Prime Gold Coast festival.

Continuing its partnership with the Star Entertainment Group, the highly popular mid-major series kicks off tomorrow at The Star Gold Coast, with 14 events scheduled across 12 days and tournament buy-ins starting from as little as $330.

Along with highly popular $5K Challenge, the $1,350 buy-in Mystery Bounty and $10K Super High Roller, this year’s series marks the debut of the $3K PLO High Roller tournament, before culminating in the $2,000 buy-in Main Event.

Players will also have the chance to win themselves automatic entry into the next WPT Australia Main Event, which last year saw David Tang make history as the first-ever Main Tour Champion crowned on home soil, topping a field of 710 entries to win $647,470.

It all adds up to the brand’s continued success in Australia over the last three years, which was reflected strongly across all tiers, including last year’s WPTDeepStacks Sydney Main Event, and the 2021 WPT League Gold Coast QPC, which broke the record for the largest field in Australian tournament history.

PMA will also return to provide full coverage of the WPT Prime Gold Coast series, with Live Reporting for the entire duration of the Opening Event, the $5K Challenge and the $10K Super High Roller, along with Day 2 coverage of the Mystery Bounty and the $3K PLO High Roller, as well as daily articles and social media content for the Main Event alongside live updates over at
