PMA to provide special media coverage at WPT World Championship in Las Vegas

PokerMedia Australia, in proud partnership with the World Poker Tour, is delighted to announce that we will be offering bespoke media coverage at the WPT World Championship in Las Vegas, USA.

As revealed during last month’s episode of the PMA Podcast with WPT Executive Tour Director, Matt Savage (video below), PMA will be on the ground to provide daily blog updates and social media content from 11-19 December (Las Vegas time), with a key focus on tracking the progress of all the Aussie players in action.

The inaugural WPT World Championship – which launched at The Wynn Las Vegas on 1 December – is comprised of 23 scheduled events, culminating in the USD $10,400 (AUD $15,512) buy-in Main Event from 12-18 December, with the televised final table to be broadcast on 20 December.

The WPT World Championship Main Event also promises a guaranteed prize pool of USD $15,000,000 (AUD $23,372,977) – the largest in global poker history.

Australia will be well represented at The Wynn, with WPTDeepStacks Sydney Main Event Champion Mark Fester amongst those to have qualified, alongside WPT Prime Gold Coast Main Event Champion Yang Lei, and Star Sydney Champs Main Event Winner Qi Xu.

David Tang, who made history as the first-ever WPT Australia Main Event Champion, is also expected to make an appearance after etching his name into the coveted Mike Sexton Cup alongside Australian Poker Hall of Famers Joe Hachem and Mel Judah.

They will also be joined by a squadron of players from the WPT League Sydney and Illawarra regions, skippered by team captains Bruno Rao and Tyson Orth, who as of this morning have led their troops – Tim De Pater, Adrian Pacheco, Joseph Kim, David Wonson and Shane MacDowell – into battle for the USD $1,100 (AUD $1,723) WPT Prime Championship.

Together, they’ll all be welcomed by three of our most successful Australian industry exports: WPT Anchor Lynn Gilmartin, WPT Asia-Pacific Live Events Specialist Danny McDonagh, and VP of Global Tour Management Angelica Hael, who will be officially inducted into the Women in Poker Hall of Fame at a special ceremony to be hosted at the PokerGO Studios on December 14.
