Joe Sandaev goes back-to-back in Stacked Adelaide Main Events

Joe Sandaev has won his third title in the space of less than three weeks, dominating the final table to win the DeepStacks Adelaide Main Event at Stacked Social. His victory continues a run of form that also saw him make four final tables at the recent WPT Australia at The Star Gold Coast, taking home two titles and the Player of the Festival award.

After winning the Stacked Poker Championships Main Event back in February, it’s a remarkable achievement for Sandaev, 33, to retain the title, this time outlasting another record field of 192 entries to collect the $71,000 top prize.

“It’s a good run of form, I’m running really good, it’s a pretty big heater,” remarked Sandaev, humbling himself in his chat to PokerMedia Australia.

When reminded he is allowed to give himself some credit, he added, “I feel like I’m playing well too, but it’s tournament poker so everyone knows you have to run really, really good to get these sort of results.”

Donning a shirt with a special message ‘Pray for Ukraine’ for the entirety of Day 3, Sandaev paid tribute to his Ukrainian heritage.

“The t-shirt’s mainly for awareness and to keep people in your thoughts … I still have family over there too, just pray for Ukraine,” he said.

After success interstate, Sandaev was pleased to return to the city he calls home and pick up a title.

“It’s good to see that I can continue the form I had interstate here on my home ground,” he smiled.

On Stacked specifically, Sandaev spoke highly of his experience at the venue, stating, “It’s no secret that Stacked Social is becoming one of the best poker venues in Australia.

“All credit to the owners and the staff here. Chris did a really good job as the tournament director, he was put in some really tough spots but I think he handled it really well.

“Big props to Andrew (Michael) for his hard work, and all the staff, they carry themselves with professionalism.”

Sandaev’s poker aspirations for the future carry no specific ‘bucket list’ items,

“I’ve never played in Vegas but it’s not on my cards at the moment. I’ll take things as they come. I might just chill a bit,” he said.

This concludes PokerMedia Australia‘s time on deck at Stacked Social after a wonderful four days for the Main Event. The closing tournament of the series took place throughout the night, eventually seeing Pierce Hynes claim the title heads-up against Nick Williams in an event full of laughs, drinks and banter, encapsulating the experience Stacked prides itself on providing to its patrons.
