The famous World Series of Poker brand is heading back to Australia with confirmation that the WSOP International Circuit will stop off in Sydney in November.
The WSOP said overnight that WSOP-C Sydney will be held at the Star Sydney from 2 to 14 November 2022 – one of 10 Circuit stops taking place around the world between September and April.
It is also the only WSOP-C series in the southern hemisphere, highlighting Australia’s reclaimed reputation as a global poker stronghold.
“The World Series of Poker is ready to go international once again,” said WSOP Senior Vice President and Executive Director, Ty Stewart. “Poker is bigger than ever and there has been a recent run of international champions in our Main Events. We’re excited to bring the once-in-a-lifetime poker experiences of the WSOP-C and WSOP Europe back to transcontinental players.”
The WSOP also announced the dates for WSOP Europe 2022, which will take place at King’s Resort in Rozvadov, Czech Republic, from 26 October to 16 November 2022. The Main Event is scheduled to kick off on 11 November.
It’s already been a huge year for the WSOP, which not only saw its annual flagship series move to a new home on the Las Vegas Strip during the US summer but attracted the second-largest Main Event field of all time with 8,663 starters. Adrian Attenborough fell agonisingly short of joining Joe Hachem as Australia’s only WSOP Main Event champion, finishing runner-up to Norway’s Espen Jorstad.
