A family affair: Patrick Yazbeck bags chip lead after Day 1B of Star Sydney Champs Mystery Bounty

Patrick Yazbeck has ended Day 1B of The Star Sydney Champs Mystery Bounty on top of the charts, bagging 611,000 in chips.

With a total of 259 entries taking to the felt in The Star Poker Room, play ended upon the field’s reduction to the final 39 (top 15%) of the field.

Now in the box seat for collecting bounties, it was solid day for the youngest of the famed Yazbeck trio, who told PokerMedia Australia that he was pleased with how he performed throughout the day.

“Played well, got lucky … yeah, very happy with the way I played,” he said. “Great to be back at the Sydney Champs after so long, it seems to be where I’ve got a lot of my best results.”

Not even father Mark (foreground) was safe against Patrick Yazbeck

The Sydney Champs have certainly been a proving ground for Yazbeck in the early stages of his career, as he’s since recorded five-figure sums in the WPTDeepStacks Sydney $5K Challenge, and last month’s Poker Palace Winter Championships Main Event, where he finished third.

It also’s the second time this series that a Yazbeck has bagged the chip lead after a Day 1 flight, with brother Alex finishing first after Day 1C of the Opening Event a few days ago.
