Sydney’s Jiapeng Yang has barnstormed his way through Day 2 of The Star Sydney Opening Event to go into the finale with approximately 30% of the chips in play.
148 players returned to the felt yesterday afternoon, and there was certainly no shortage of action across it. Daniel Franks awarded the dubious honour of ‘the bubble’ after falling at the hands of Roland Foster on the feature table in just the third level of the day.
Yang then seized his opportunity, eliminating Jamal Kassir before the dinner break which set him up for a huge rush through to the end before bagging up 7.75 million in chips.
Sean McKenzie held his own at the feature table to finish second overall with 4,075,000, with Nicholas Roth (2,550,000), Shu Lin (2,300,000) and Day 1C chip leader Rabie El Hage (2,750,000) rounding out the top five.

Also returning for the final day are Nathan Sawyers, Jackson Hardy and Daniel Zhou, however all eyes will be on Nurlan Boobekov as he eyes off his second Star Sydney Champs Opening Event victory, as well as Suzy Khouiss, who could well emulate the efforts of her best friend and WPTDeepStacks Sydney Opening Event Champion Michelle Psarras.
