
Sydney’s Van Nguyen has bagged close to 900,000 in chips after a huge elimination in Day 1A of the WPT League Sydney QPC Main Event.
The Sydney local was rocksteady amidst the frenetic action across the felt in the $675 buy-in tournament, scoring a massive pot of Shmail Michael late in the day before eventually sealing up 891,000 in chips.
A total of 31 players bagged through to Day 2 on Sunday from the 165 total entries taken in, with Grael Won finishing second overall after finding a couple of big scalps late in the day to bag 665,000, while Franceso Riservato (407,000), George Kanan (406,000) and Domenic Galati (400,000) rounded out the top five.
Other notables to have survived include Jai Duffy, Suzy Khouiss, Michelle Psarras, Uno Uka, David Rodwell, Mele Poulivaati, Justin Wong, Chad Awerbuch and Arsn Younadem, who already has three QPC Sydney rings to his name from this series alone.
