First of many: Foster wins WPTDeepStacks Sydney $440 PLO

Roland Foster hasn’t played poker in “7 or 8 years” but that hasn’t stopped him from recording an impressive victory, taking out the $440 PLO event at WPTDeepStacks Sydney.

After the poker scene died down in the ACT and online poker was the victim of legislation, according to Foster, he took a long break from the game, before seeing that the WPTDeepStacks was coming to Sydney and deciding to make the trip just for fun.

He defeated a field of 365 players including many huge names in Australian poker scene followed by a star-studded final table including Lloyd Locsin, Anthony Hachem, Daniel Hachem, and Ali Ghezelbash.

Speaking to PokerMedia Australia after the victory photos, Foster said he’d never been in doubt he was going to win today; “I was feeling it from the first level, I was making hands, took out a couple of players early on.”

“What was a trip for just a bit of fun has definitely been some good fun,” he laughed, “I really enjoyed today!”
