Hassan tops the counts after Star Gold Coast Opening Event Day 1B

Day 1B of the Star Poker Gold Coast Opening Event is now in the books, with 33 survivors bagging up from the 190 total entries taken in today.

Leading at the end of day’s play was Hussein Hassan, who bagged up 450,000 to return tomorrow as second chip leader overall behind France’s Antoine Follet.

The Sydney grinder is no stranger to the big time, having won almost USD $900,000 in career tournament earnings, including victory in the 2019 APL Million Main Event, the 2018 WSOP International Circuit 6-Max Event in Sydney and the 2019 WPT Australia $5K Challenge.

Shem Goltz finished up second in chips after Day 1B with a stack worth 383,000, while Brett Marshall (286,000) Ashley Valks (280,000) and Dan Mayoh (250,000) rounded out today’s top five.

Other big names to have made it through to Day 2 include Jaisan Patel, Nuno Da Silva, Mishel Anunu, APT Players Championship winner Jigs Reyes and the newly-crowned QPC Main Event Champion, Lucho Vargas.

In all, there were 33 survivors from the 190 entries taken in today, with 59 players returning tomorrow to battle it out for a share of the $233,550 prize pool and a top prize worth $49,611.
