The nominees for the third rendition of the Global Poker Awards have been revealed, with Australia represented in three categories.
The Global Poker Index (GPI) and The Hendon Mob (THM), through an international voting panel, have determined the candidates for 26 awards, recognising the best performers in all facets of the industry throughout 2021.
Leading the charge for the Aussies is none other than Michael Addamo, whose performances throughout the latter half of last year were nothing short of extraordinary. Addamo is now more than USD $5 million clear of Joe Hachem and on top of the Australian All-Time Money List.
Together with England’s Stephen Chidwick, Bosnia’s Ali Imsirovic and American David Peters, Addamo has been shortlisted for the Player’s Choice for Toughest Opponent Award.
Fellow Aussie ex-pat Tim Duckworth, who lives and works in Las Vegas as PokerGO‘s Content & Live Reporting Manager, has also been nominated for Best Live Reporter, along with Germany’s Christian Zetzsche and American poker media veterans Chad Holloway and Mickey Doft.
The Star Gold Coast could also stake their claim for an award through the Fans’ Choice for Best Trophy category, getting the nod for the surfboard-inspired silverware given away during last year’s WPTDeepStacks series.
The Global Poker Awards ceremony will be streamed live and exclusive from the PokerGO Studio at the Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas next month. For more information, including the full list of categories and nominees, visit globalpokerindex.com/awards.
