The Australian Poker League has announced the official dates for the long-awaited return of the APL Million, with this year’s edition to be held at Southport Sharks on the Gold Coast from 5 to 15 August 2022.
The series is set to be the biggest yet for the APL, with a packed schedule comprising 40 events and buy-ins ranging from $80 through to $2,500. It will also be the largest ever series staged outside of a casino environment in Australia, with the $1,500 Main Event to have an estimated prize pool of $1 million including a guaranteed $250,000 for the winner.
The APL is expecting the field to include more than 400 satellite qualifiers from across the country.
APL Ambassador Jackie Glazier said, “The APL Million is making a comeback and what a comeback it is going to be.
“We’ve got over 40 events on the schedule which is absolutely massive. We’re trying to cater to all poker players with buy-ins starting at $80 and satellites running throughout the entire series.
“We’ve got the $1,500 main event, the $2,500 Centurion, the ‘Jackstar’ Super High Roller and we could even have a bigger high roller at the end of the series if that’s something the players want.”
The APL Million was last held at The Star Sydney in early March 2020 and was the last major tournament series in Australia before the global COVID-19 saw the poker industry put on temporary pause.
