$1,250,000 Guaranteed Series Prize Pool for Sydney Champs

The 2016 Star Poker Sydney Championships schedule has been released with the exciting news that a guaranteed prize pool for the series of $1.25m will be on offer! Star Poker has committed to a guaranteed prize pool for a number of events including $650,000 for the $3000 Main Event that starts on Friday, August 5.

The tournament series will begin on Tuesday, July 26 with the $330 No Limit Hold’em Opening Event and culminate on Monday, August 8 with the final table of the $3000 Main Event. Satellites for the Main Event begin on June 28 where one, two and up to ten seats will be guaranteed in the main event when playing in qualifying satellite events. See the satellite schedule for full details.

Nine events will make up the full schedule this year with the addition of a Ladies $440 re-entry event. Buy-ins across the series range from $330 to $7000 for the high-roller Challenge event, which now includes a $250,000 guaranteed prize pool.

Star Poker has been going from strength to strength with consistently solid fields generated across their major series held at The Star. The most recent included the inaugural Australasian Poker Challenge where young gun Alex Lynskey triumphed in the Main Event to win more than $212,000. Last year’s Sydney Championships Main Event saw 281 players enter and after four days of play and some 26 levels, Ben Jee was crowned champion for over $200,000.

PokerMedia Australia is proud to enter the 6th year of our association with Star Poker and the 14th running of the PMA special event. As has been custom, our $1100 No Limit Hold’em Event will be a six-handed affair and include one re-entry opportunity. This time though, a guaranteed prize pool of $100,000 has been set. We’re hoping to have another big field in the vicinity of 150 players. Our live reporting team will be on hand. We will also be covering the Main Event and a number of the other prominent events throughout the series.

The Main Event buy-in has remained at $3000 for the fourth year in a row. Other events on the schedule include the $440 No Limit Hold’em Turbo with re-entry; $440 No Limit Hold’em Teams Event; $550 Pot Limit Omaha with re-entry; $7000 No Limit Hold’em Challenge with re-entry; and the $550 No Limit Hold’em Bounty event on the final Sunday.
