PUB POKER: The Main Event is fast approaching for eager pub players

The fifth running of The Main Event hosted by the Australian Poker League, 888 Poker League and Pub Poker is set to kick off at the Crown Poker Room on Thursday, February 26. With a guaranteed $100,000 first prize, the event will be a potential life changer for the winner who will take home the trophy, cash and prizes on Sunday, March 1.

Matt Kazole from Victoria became the fourth Main Event champion when he won in 2014. He joined Amjed Slewa (III), Olivier Baux (II) and Nathan Gauci (I) to make Main Event history.

The Main Event is one of the leading tournaments on the pub poker calendar each year, which is categorised by the choice of venue and quality dealers that are provided at Crown Melbourne. A starting stack of 30,000 in chips will provide plenty of opportunity for players to show their poker prowess. Blinds will commence at 30 minutes on Day 1 and extend to 40 minutes on Day 2 and 3.

The weekend festivities include a Player Party on the Saturday night, with players and partners set to rock out at Crown’s Groove Bar. Sunday will see the launch of the inaugural $50,000 Farewell Tournament, which is open to all APL, 888PL and Pub Poker players. The $240 buy-in event is set to provide a perfect lead-in to the final table and ultimately the crowning of The Main Event V Champion.

The huge weekend of poker will close out on Sunday evening with the traditional Champions Toast at Lumia Bar, where players and friends can congratulate The Main Event Champion while enjoying a drink and reflecting on a weekend of excitement. We wish all the players the best of luck.
