The New Caledonia Poker Open (NCPO) will be held from March 23-31, 2015. Only three hours flight from Australia or New Zealand, New Caledonia is a great holiday destination where you can combine some well-deserved R&R with a high-class poker event.
Nouméa, the capital of New Caledonia, is the perfect holiday destination for families as well as couples, where you can discover the French way of living in the Pacific. It’s a paradise for beach lovers and shoppers but is also a great destination for those who enjoy gaming. It has two convenient casinos; Casino Royal is the smaller of the two with 150 slots and five gaming tables. The second is Grand Casino, an impressive property with 300 slots and 25 gaming tables, next to the Le Meridien Hotel.
The table gaming floor of the Grand Casino provides a unique 360° view of the beautiful lagoon outside, where you can observe kite and wind surfing activities while gaming. On the same level is the restaurant Le Carré d’As, a must to experience the gastronomic delights of French fare.
The 2015 NCPO will be the second running of the series. 250 players contested the main event in 2014 with local Teva Tavita winning the event and a payout of $77,000AUD. The expectations are high this coming year to generate a main event prize pool of over $360,000 for an approximate winner payout of $80,000AUD. The entry fee for the main event is $1375AUD (*based on current conversion rates).
As part of the NCPO will be a special $700AUD pot limit Omaha event and a number of other side events. These events will support the no limit hold’em Main Event that will begin on Day 5 – Saturday March 28. This French festival of poker will be coordinated by the well-known professional poker player, tournament director and Australian Poker Hall of Famer Mr. Mel Judah.
Along with the schedule announcement, event organisers have provided an early bird accommodation special at the world class hotel Le Méridien Nouméa if you book by February 8. Prices are approximately $200AUD per night and include breakfast and taxes.
