CROWN POKER: Mason leads APPT final table chip count

The final table for the latest PokerStars live tournament at Crown Melbourne has been decided with ex-pat Brit Ashley Mason the man to catch. The 24-year-old has a significant buffer on the remaining nine players as he seeks to add the APPT Melbourne Main Event crown to the six-handed title he captured as part of the preliminary schedule.

Two players who reached the 2013 Aussie Millions Main Event final table also remain in contention. Chip leader at the start of day three, New Zealand’s David Yan enters the final table in second chip position while Joe Cabret, who was runner-up to Mervin Chan in that Aussie Millions Main Event, is seventh of the nine players.

Fresh from a deep run in the 2013 WSOP Main Event, Robert Damelian is also still in the hunt while Australian Poker Hall of Fame foundation member Billy Argyros is the short stack. Jonathan Karamalikis bubbled the final table.

Japan’s Iori Yogo was confirmed as the tour’s player of the year after Luke Brabin, who needed to finish seventh or better, busted in 33rd position. Other players who cashed in this tournament included Jordan Westmorland (34th), Tino Lechich (20th), MIchael Faderson (19th), Martin Kozlov (16th) and Billy Jordanou (15th).
