PUB POKER: Action heating up at Aussie Hold’em Summer Series

The pub poker spotlight remains on the Newcastle region this weekend for the first major championship on the Aussie Hold’em schedule for 2013.

The Newcastle Poker Championships Summer Series, which started on Wednesday night at Club Macquarie, aims to give regional players the opportunity to play in a world-class series of events at a local level.

Aussie Hold’em’s Marty Wooster said the events at each series are carefully chosen in consultation with players to offer value, variety and serious competition.

“Over the next few years we aim to continue to deliver the best structured, professionally run tournaments players can ever experience outside of the major world tournaments such as WSOP and the Aussie Millions,” Wooster said.

The 2013 Summer Series features five events that, for the first time, includes a H.O.P “Dealers Choice” $22 + rebuy event as well as a $55 deep stack, $55 Teams Event, a $165 Main Event and a $550 High Roller event.

NPC regular Linda Wooster took out the opening event on the schedule, which was $20 + $2 “Dealers Choice” H.O.P. Cubed Event, with a guarantee of $1500. The dealer had a choice to change the game to Hold’em, Pot Limit Omaha or Pineapple.
