The APL spotlight will shine on the Canterbury-Hurlstone Park RSL this weekend for the latest edition of the APL Sydney Champs and NSW Pro Open.
Demand for the 400 APL Sydney Champs tickets has again been very high meaning the cash only prizepool should again reach $28,000 with a first prize of $10,000. Indeed, every edition of this event has sold out since first played 12 months ago.
To be played tomorrow (Saturday), the APL Sydney Champs is a genuine deep stack event with a 20,000-start stack combined with relaxed and extended blinds. Based on another sellout, the top 32 players will earn a slice of the prizepool.
Then on Sunday, another spot on TeamWSOP will be up for grabs in the NSW Pro Open, which delivers a chance for aspiring high-end players to take their freeroll play to the next level.
A one-stop satellite to the WSOP in Vegas and to the prestigious 888PL/APL MAIN EVENT, the NSW Pro Open also includes cash prizes. In true deep-stack style, this is one event in which you won’t be blinded out in the first few hands. Thanks to the 10,000-start stack the Pro Open offers you a chance to truly play your own style of poker.
A field of 450-500 players is expected at the Canterbury-Hurlstone Park RSL on Sunday and while many players have already qualified, buy-ins are also available at a cost of $110 (including GST, registration from 10am for noon start). The guaranteed prizepool of $25,000 includes:
• $17,000 TeamWSOP 2013 package (includes return flights, accommodation, TeamWSOP apparel and entry into the $10,000 No Limit Hold’em Main Event
• 3 x MAIN EVENT seats (valued at $1200 each)
• 8 x NSW State Championship entries (the State Championships event boasts a $60,000 prize pool)
• Ninth to 40th place receive a Second Chance Pro Open ticket (valued at $110)
• $4400 cash prize pool
The final NSW Pro Open for 2012 will be played at the Blacktown Workers Club on December 9.
