The schedule for the 2013 WSOP Asia-Pacific at Crown Melbourne hasn’t been confirmed but Southern Cross Poker (SCP) players are already queuing for a shot at the first gold bracelet to be awarded outside the USA and Europe.
Three more SCP players will be heading to Melbourne next April after this Sunday’s East Coast Poker Championship (ECPC), which will be played at Mayfield Diggers.
One of Australia’s biggest regularly scheduled pub poker tournaments, the ECPC will again offer a $30,000 guaranteed prizepool with the buy-in remaining at only $200.
Included in the prizepool are three WSOP APAC packages valued at $1800, which include return airfares from Newcastle to Melbourne, two nights’ accommodation, entry to the anticipated $1100 NLHE bracelet event and a Team SCP WSOP shirt. The top three finishers will win one of these packages.
Registration for this Sunday’s ECPC opens at 11am, with cards in the air an hour later at Mayfield Diggers (Hanbury St, Mayfield, NSW). Players will start with 25,000 in chips with levels of 25 minutes.
The first members of SCP team for the 2013 WSOP APAC were confirmed back in August when Queenslander Sam Kendall, local poker identity and SCP regular Kevin Blowers along with Yeena Thompson filled the top three placings at the last edition of the ECPC.
