ANZPT MELBOURNE: Jordanou leads, Hachem looms after Main Event day 1A

A solid turnout ensured a highly entertaining day of poker as the latest PokerStars tour event kicked off at Crown Melbourne. A total of 186 players took their seats for day 1A of ANZPT Melbourne with 71 set to return for day 2.

Crown Poker and PokerMedia Australia ambassador Joe Hachem enjoyed one of his better days on his home felt to finish fifth overall in chips and well within reach of the man who topped the count, fellow Melburnian Billy Jordanou.

Others set to rejoin the field on Sunday included Minh Nguyen (113,100), Matt Wakeman (72,900), Octavian Voegele (72,100), Julius Colman (50,300), Kyle Cheong (47,700), Leo Boxell (45,600), Gary Benson (38,000), Jesse McKenzie (35,800), Mike Guttmann (29,900) and Paul Khoury (25,000).

But the hopes of victory have already ended for 2010 Aussie Millions champion David Gorr, Grant Levy, Jackie Glazier, Billy Argyros, Tom Grigg, Andrew Hinrichsen, Dennis Huntly, Jai Kemp, Michael Kanaan, Errolyn Strang, Michael Pedley, Peter Aristidou and Liam Moffett.

Play continues today (Saturday) with the second day one flight of the Main Event at 12.30pm along with a $350 No Limit Hold’em Deep Stack tournament starting at 12.10pm.
