It’s a big weekend for Victorian and South Australian players from the APL, 888PL and Pub Poker who will take to the felt in the hope of taking home a slice of the $150,000 national prizepool comprising $85,000 cash and 54 seats for MAIN EVENT III in February 2013.
Tabcorp Park in Melton is the home of Victorian harness racing but the venue has never hosted a field as big as the line-up for this Sunday’s Victorian State Champs.
Players will be battling for a share of a $25,000 guaranteed prizepool, which includes eight seats to MAIN EVENT III at Crown Melbourne on February 20-24.
The field will include Dave Brownlee, who was the highest placed Victorian (fourth) in MAIN EVENT II for which he earned a tasty $36,800 ($25,000 plus Aussie Millions Main Event and MAIN EVENT entries valued at $11,800).
Across the border in South Australia, the Checkside Tavern in West Lakes will host the SA State Champs on Sunday (October 21). A guaranteed prizepool of $10,000 will be on the line including a MAIN EVENT seat for the winner.
SA was one of the best-performed states in MAIN EVENT II with two players reaching the final table and six others finishing in the money so qualifiers can expect a tough battle for the Season 3 state title.
In addition to the State Champs, there will be a $5 MAIN EVENT Rebuy event at 4pm, a $50 MAIN EVENT Satellite at 6pm and SNGs from 1pm.
