APPT MELBOURNE: Bentley rolls into Main Event chip lead after day two

After two long days of poker, just 15 of the 43 survivors in the PokerStars APPT Melbourne Main Event will miss a slice of the $1,207,900 prizepool when the remaining players return to Crown Melbourne this afternoon.

Wayne Bentley leads the field on 450,000, but all eyes are on Australian Poker Hall of Fame member and reigning APPT Melbourne champion Leo Boxell, who lies second in chips on 400,000.

Behind that duo lie many of the better known names on the regional poker scene including past ANZ Players of the Year Danny Chevalier and Tony Hachem, 2011 ANZPT Sydney champion Michael Kanaan, winner of the first APPT event on Australian soil Grant Levy along with Brendon Rubie, Dale Marsland, Hai Bo Chu, Michael Guttman, Billy Argyros, Jarred Graham, Gary Benson, Julian Powell, Tom Grigg and Kristian Lunardi.

In the battle for this year’s points title, Anthony Aston remains in the lead but he can still be overtaken by Mishel Anunu (135,000) and Liam O’Rourke (135,000). Anunu, who is second on the leaderboard only needs to reach the money to win the title, while O’Rourke will have to finish in sixth place or better.
