MAIN EVENT: Full House Group and bookmaker.com.au join forces

The Main Event has already established a position among Australia’s leading poker tournaments. It can now be considered among the most innovative after Full House Group confirmed that bookmaker.com.au would offer markets on the Main Event, in addition to other major 888PL, APL and Pub Poker tournaments.

“This is a great partnership,” Brayden Haynes, Chief Operations Officer at Full House Group, said.

“We liked the fact that bookmaker.com.au are a proudly Australian owned and operated company like ourselves. We are all driven by our own egos at times and now our players have the opportunity to put their money where their mouth is and back themselves to win! We think this adds another exciting element to our poker tournaments and builds interest in poker throughout Australia.”

The bookmaker.com.au and Full House Group partnership was launched leading in to the July’s State Champs. Punters loved the opportunity to place a bet on themselves or their mates to take out the State Champs as well as the chance to place a bet on the highest ranked venue or region. South Australian State Champ, Paul Kempster, delivered for one lucky punter who backed him to win at a whopping $91.

The market for the Main Event has been calculated by looking through a player’s history for the previous six months. Every game they have played with APL, 888PL or Pub Poker is taken into account. bookmaker.com.au look at how many events have been played, how many tournaments an individual has won or final tabled and how many players they beat in each tournament. A ranking is then assigned based on this information and the betting market is created and published.

Players will have the opportunity to place a bet at any time before the tournament commences either online or on the phone. Once the tournament starts, players will be able to ‘bet in the run,’ but only by phoning their bets into bookmaker.com.au on 137 888.

“The opportunity to place a bet on themselves has made this a really fun point of interest for poker players,” Dean Shannon, Chief Executive at bookmaker.com.au, said. “Most people have a little flutter on themselves or their mates and it keeps them interested in how everyone is faring in the tournament.”
