STAR POKER: Two titles for Toothpick Tony at Sydney Champs

As players took to the felt for the Sydney Poker Champs $1650 Main Event starting with tonight’s (Thursday’s) first flight, several players have already tasted success as part of the preliminary schedule.

Having already tasted success in the PMA $1k Special Event, Antonis ‘Toothpick Tony’ Kambouroglou made it two titles for the series with victory in the $440 PLO event over a field of 85 competitors. Will Skountzos also made it back-to-back third-place finishes in this event having placed third in the Bounty event.

• Sydney’s Michael Mayar collected the first big win of his tournament poker career with victory in the $550 No Limit Hold’em Six-handed event.

The field of 141 built a prizepool of $70,500, with Mayar earning $18,330 for his win. Nabil Edgtton, who won the Six-handed event at the Star Poker Summer Series, was third here.
