The latest edition of one of Australia’s leading pub poker tournaments kicks-off at noon tomorrow (Sunday) when Southern Cross Poker’s (SCP’s) best players contest the East Coast Poker Championship (ECPC).
A huge field is expected at Diggers @ Newcastle City after the buy-in was reduced to $200 ($180 + $20) while the guaranteed prizepool has been increased to $25,000 with the winner assured a minimum payout of $10,000. ECPC players will start with 25,000 in tournament chips while levels are 25 minutes.
Already scores of players have qualified for free having placed top in their region, placed top on their venue leaderboard, won one of 10 seats via semi-final having placed in the top 15 of their venue leaderboard, won a Star Card freeroll, placed top three in a $7k Rewards Game or won a seat through a Last Chance Satellite.
• In more news from the Southern Cross Poker team, they have just announced the addition of a fifth region to join New Castle, Hunter Valley, Central Coast and North Coast. Games in the New England region will launch in Armidale and Uralla and will soon be expanded into surrounding areas.
Games are being held at the Uralla Bowling Club on Thursdays, Armidale Bowling Club on Friday nights, and the Coachwood & Cedar Hotel in Uralla on Sunday afternoons. SCP’s Brad Locking said local players will not only have more games with more variety to choose from, but they will also get the chance to go on and play in some much larger tournaments as a reward for their efforts.
“On behalf of all the other regions, and the management team at Southern Cross Poker, we would like to welcome Matthew Thompson and his New England crew to our league. We are looking forward to seeing more regional players at the $25,000 East Coast Poker Championship, and the $7000 Rewards Game in the near future,” Locking said.
