One of the largest fields in WA poker history has been confirmed for the Perth Poker Champs Main Event at Burswood after a field of 221 players took their seats for the second of two day one flights in the $1100 buy-in tournament.
Combined with the day 1A entry list of 89, that meant a total field of 310 and a prizepool of $310,000 with the winner assured a payout of $78,275.
With more than double the entrants on day 1B, it wasn’t surprising that eight players surpassed the chip count of day 1A lead Peter Zaknic with Josh Foster (143,500) topping the list narrowly ahead of Didier Guerin (136,100). After the two day one flights, 136 players remained in contention for the title.
• Having already qualified for day two of the Main Event, Australian Poker Hall of Fame member Leo Boxell took time out to add yet another title to his imposing record with victory in the $275 buy-in No Limit Hold’em Terminator event.
