ANZPT SYDNEY: Timo tops field in Six-handed event

Always among the most popular events on any major schedule, the $550 ANZPT Sydney Six-handed event drew a classy field of 126 players. And to add an international flavour to a series dominated by local players, it was Timo Pfutzenreuter who emerged victorious.

The German has a respectable online record including victory in a Sunday Warm-up but this was his breakthrough victory in a major live event and came at the expense of a final table line-up that included 2010 ANZ Player of the Year runner-up John Maklouf and highly respected WA player Dale Marsland.

In town for the ANZPT Sydney Main Event, Pfutzenreuter defeated local player Rick Solomon to pocket the first prize of $16,380. Solomon, who cashed in the Opening Event, added a further $11,025 to his burgeoning bankroll.

Others to cash included Antonis “Toothpick Tony” Kambouroglou (eighth), Henry Hung-Tu Wang (10th), Eddie Saade (11th), Jason Pritchard (12th) and 2010 ANZPT Melbourne champion Martin Kozlov (13th).
