ANZPT SYDNEY: Opening Event attracts huge fields

ANZPT Sydney is off to a massive start with players packing into Star Poker for the first two flights of the $330 Opening Event over the past two nights.

Flight one attracted a capacity field of 250 players including Star Poker ambassadors Grant Levy, Aaron Benton and Daniel Neilson. A total of 42 players survived the 11 levels of 40 minutes with Ricky Lim leading the way on 248,000.

Other players to finish well ahead of the chip average of just under 60,000 included Tristan Earl (167,400), Ryan Davis (114,700), Gary Levine (96,400) and the 2009 APPT Sydney winner Aaron Benton (91,700).

Thursday night’s second flight also drew a big field of 228 players with 42 again the number of survivors. Big stacks at the end of play belonged to Mark Longhurst (128,100), Osama Hassan (103,300), Troy Parkinson (96,500), Peter McCarthy (94,800) and Florian Taube (83,700).

The final day one flight of the Opening Event is currently underway at The Star, with the remaining players returning tomorrow (Saturday) at 12.30pm for day two.
