WPPT: Tristan still tops after day two of Gold Coast event

Tristan Bain finished the day where he started – as the chip leader of the World Professional Poker Tour (WPPT) Gold Coast Main Event. Bain started play with 467,000 and edged his stack up to 635,900 during day two, but that was good for an almost 2:1 lead over his nearest challenger.

Janette Phillips consolidated her position as the leading female after flopping quads fours against Jeff Charnstorm’s turned full-house. Phillips will be back on day 3 for the chase to the money.

Other notables set to return for the penultimate day of the WPPT’s first foray into Australia include Minh Nguyen (342,600), NZ’s Jackson Zheng (338,100), 2011-12 Australian Poker Hall of Fame inductee Leo Boxell (179,900), Liam O’Rourke (150,000), Graeme Putt (147,400), Peter Aristidou (84,900) and 2011 Aussie Millions champion David Gorr (52,700).
