
One of the most innovative poker promotions ever conducted in Australia has been completed and, as a result, 10 players are heading to the first MAIN EVENT at Crown Melbourne later this month.
The Golden Ticket promotion, which involved clue cards being issued at 888PL and APL events throughout January, attracted more than 1500 players nationally.
Players competed for a chance to compete for an estimated prizepool of $500,000 at Crown later this month with the event in South-East Queensland drawing a huge field of 425 runners.
The Sydney events drew 335 and 200 respectively while events in Victoria and South Australia attracted 335 and 194 players. Mackay’s event drew 94 runners, while Western Australia also did well with 144 entrants.
Chris Milliner outlasted 424 opponents to claim his Golden Ticket in the South-East Queensland tournament while Tina from Mackay represented in North Queensland.
Tickets were awarded to Cheryl Sumbar, Mala Kita, Ralph Gallo and Daniel Magrin in NSW. North Sydney satellite winner James Kavanagh will also be heading to Crown for a chance to win the MAIN EVENT, taking down 20 other runners for the opportunity.
Golden tickets were secured by Victorian pair Javier Luppino and John Mitchell while Billy Oggero and Gerard Van Der Burg won their shot at MAIN EVENT glory in a satellite on the same day.
South Australia’s Cesare Nudo won the ticket on offer in South Australia event after a tense heads-up battle while Western Australia’s Dot Bagshaw will also be headed to Crown with a $1200 ticket and $800 cash.
