The final table has been decided for the 2012 Aussie Millions Main Event final table with three locals facing four internationals in pursuit of the first prize of AUD $1.6 million.
However, the result is still far from a foregone conclusion with chip leader Bjorn Li leading from a tightly packed field with Oliver Speidel in second chip position while short stack Mohamad Kowssarie faces no immediate threat. Regardless of the result, the winner will smash his best previous result as some of poker’s lesser lights today take centre stage in pursuit of one of poker’s most prestigious titles.
In contrast, some big names bowed out yesterday including Phil Ivey (12th) after jamming his A-Q into the A-K of Yann Dion while the hopes of a second Aussie Millions Main Event title for 2006 winner Lee Nelson in ninth ended after his A-K lost a flip against the pocket eights of Speidel. Daniel Idema bubbled the official final table after the A-K of Bjorn Li prevailed over his A-Q. The final table is scheduled to start at 12.30pm today (Sunday).
