The final tally isn’t quite finalised, but the 2012 Aussie Millions Main Event field has reached 650 after day 1C where an additional 317 players joined the field. Registration remains open for the first level of day two, and a handful of extra players are expected to add $10,000 apiece to the prizepool.
The big names were out in force yesterday with most eyes on Phil Ivey, who charged to an early chip lead and stayed among the leaders for much of the day before finishing on 184,000 – good for fourth on day 1C and seventh overall.
Others who’ll be back today include Melanie Weisner (118,700), Jason Mercier (61,600), JC Tran (49,100) along with another big line-up of Aussies including Pat Dillon (159,700), Michael Pedley (146,300), Tino Lechich (112,700), David Steicke (101,800), Tony G (74,400), Michael Guttman (36,500), James Obst (33,500), Jai Kemp (31,600), Joey Lawrence (25,700) and Jay Kinkade (18,900).
But there was also a long list of day 1C casualties that featured defending champion David Gorr, Dan Shak, Shane Warne, Erik Seidel, Daniel Negreanu, Joe Hachem, Brandon Adams, Nam Le, Sam Trickett, Chris Moorman, Victor Ramdin, Tony Hachem, Sorel Mizzi, Tony Bloom and Mike Watson.
