AUSSIE MILLIONS: Dempsey dominates on day 1B of the Main Event

The entry list is up to 340 players after an additional 187 players paid their $10,000 to join the day 1B field for the 2012 Aussie Millions Main Event.

Brit James Dempsey topped the list of 92 players who’ll return for day two tomorrow as he aims to add the Aussie Millions crown to a CV that includes a WSOP bracelet and a WPT title.

Dempsey finished with 189,000 narrowly ahead of Aussie Ilir Beluli (182,700), long-time Aussie Millions visitor Kenna James (151,400) and the in-form local Nabil Edgtton (148,300).

The list of internationals who fared well on day 1B included Tom Dwan (107,400), 2010 Aussie Millions $10k H.O.R.S.E. champion David Bach (52,900), JP Kelly (44,100), Vitaly Lunkin (40,300) and Annette Obrestad (28,300).

It was a banner day for the locals with many well-known players still in the hunt for Australia’s premier poker title. They include past Aussie Millions Main Event winners Tyron Krost (56,400) and Stewart Scott (38,400), ANZ Player of the Year Danny Chevalier (40,400), Australian Poker Hall of Famer Billy Argyros (65,700) and former Aussie Millions Main Event final table finishers Dennis Huntly (98,000) and Panayotis Flourentzou (53,900).

Other Aussies who’ll return for day two include Octavian Voegele (116,800), Mitchell Carle (100,700), Ralph Burd (67,600), Grant Levy (66,500), Michael Kanaan (56,900), Oliver Speidel (55,200), Raemin Alexander (53,300), Sheldon Mayer (43,700), Craig Cockburn (39,000), Sam Capra (37,700), Sarah Bilney (30,000), Aaron Benton (27,000), Jarred Graham (23,100) and Jonathan Karamalikis (21,000).

The list of day 1B casualties included lay year’s third-place finisher Jeff Rossiter, Mel Judah, Jackie Glazier, Simon Watt, Vesko Zmukic, Shawn Buchanan, Andrew Scott, Jamie Pickering and Marvin Rettenmaier.
