There may be just seven weeks until the Main Event, but APL and 888PL players will be served up an appetising entrée prior to that main course with have another round of State Championship events scheduled in coming weeks.
Reflecting the continued refinement of the competition since the operations of the two leagues were merged midway through 2011, it was decided to tweak qualification in some states to allow more players to experience the excitement of State Championship poker.
• NSW (no change)
• QLD (top 5 on each event & venue leaderboard at the end of Season 4)
• Victoria (top 4 on each event & venue leaderboard at the end of Season 4)
• South Australia (top 10 on each event & venue leaderboard at the end of Season 4)
• Western Australia (Due to State Legislation, there is no qualification into the WA State Championships and therefore it is an open event)
• Tasmania (no change)
The total prizepool for the Season 4 State Championships $140,000 (guaranteed) comprising $78,000 in cash and more than 50 Main Event seats across the country. The schedule of events released to date comprises:
NSW State Championships (Saturday, January 21 – Liverpool Catholic Club, Liverpool; registration 10am for noon start)
QLD State Championships (Saturday, January 21 – Kedron Wavell Services Club, Chermside; registration 9am for 11am start)
Victorian State Championships (details TBA)
SA State Championships (Sunday, January 29 – Checkside Tavern, West Lakes; registration 9am for 10.30am start)
WA State Championships (Sunday, January 29 – Tompkins Park, Alfred Cove; registration noon for 2pm start)
Tasmania State Championships (details TBA)
