Crown has announced some important changes relating to the 2012 Aussie Millions, primarily relating to late registration.
All 2012 Aussie Millions Poker Championship events (with the exception of the $1150 Rebuy Event, $5300 Heads Up, $5000 Chinese Poker and the Main Event) will have late registration available until the second break, usually four hours into each event.
Stacks in play at the start of the tournament will be picked up at the end of the first level after which time players will be seated with a full starting bank.
In the 2012 Aussie Millions Main Event late registration will be available up until the commencement of level 9, which is the second level of day two. After the end of level 1 all players will be seated with a full starting bank. This is a major change from previous Aussie Millions and has been instigated by a number of factors.
Chinese New Year falls on the same day as flight 2 of the Aussie Millions this year and a number of players in the region wish to spend that time with their families and still participate in the Aussie Millions.
There are also quite a few players who are travelling to Melbourne from the PCA and they too have expressed their interest in arriving a day later and still being able to play the Main Event. While starting a $10k event with 30 big blinds is not ideal the additional entries added to the prizepool made it an easy decision to make.
