PUB POKER: Rubie confirmed for Central Coast Poker Championships

He hails from Glenning Valley; he has more than AUD $2.1 million in winnings to his name and he is coming home to support the inaugural Central Coast Poker Championship.

Aussie poker superstar Brendon Rubie (pictured above) is the first big name to confirm he will be attending Texas Hold’em Poker Australia’s major event at the Mingara Recreation Club in Tumbi Umbi on January 14-15.

Texas Hold’em Poker Australia director Rick Williams said Rubie was so keen to support this event that he would interrupt his Aussie Millions commitments to fly north to support his hometown event.

Ranked Australia’s number one online poker player at numerous points over the past three years, his online tournament winnings tally more than USD $2.1 million. He also won the 2010 Melbourne Poker Championships main Event title for more than AUD $100,000, and mixed it up with the world’s best in the $100,000 Hold’em Challenge at the 2011 Aussie Millions.

“The first live tournament Brendon ever won was at our venue ‘Diggers at the Entrance’, which even makes his appearance even more special for our league and local players locally,” Williams said. Brendon will be playing in the Opening Event, on Saturday, January 14. You can follow Brendon’s fortunes at www.brendooor.com.
