The latest Joe Hachem Deep Stack Series champion Jeff Rossiter
Crown has certainly proved a happy hunting ground for Jeff Rossiter in 2011. After earning $700,000 for his third place finishes in the Aussie Millions Main Event and ANZPT Melbourne High Stakes tournament, Rossiter has captured the Joe Hachem Deep Stack Series Main Event title, good for $52,000 and a 2012 Aussie Millions Main Event seat.
For a time, it seemed that the “old guard” would claim another major 2011 title with veteran Peter Mordaunt a massive chip leader three-handed and still leading 6,735,000 to 4,205,000 when the heads-up battle with Rossiter commenced.
But Rossiter slowly gained traction and completed a famous victory when on a flop of Kh-3c-8h, Mordaunt shoved with Ah-6h and the flush draw with Rossiter (Kd-Jh) making the call. The turn was 4s and river Jd, giving Rossiter two-pair and the title.
The other noteworthy performance at the final table came from Andrew Stolz, who started day two as the outright short stack holding just 5000 but fought doggedly all the way back to a gallant seventh.
