GOLD COAST CHAMPS: Zalac leads field into final day

It’s getting down to the business end of proceedings at Jupiters Hotel and Casino with just 25 players still in contention for the first Gold Coast Poker Championships Main Event crown.

Day two started with 104 of the 226 starters returning to the felt in The Poker Room. With a packed rail watching on tensely, the field played down to the money ensuring the top finishers a slice of the $226,000 prizepool.

But there’s still little separating players at the head of the chip count, with Ivan Zalac leading on 432,000 ahead of Ray Robey (344,500), Stephen Ford (317,000) and Shaun Elliott (276,000). Day one chip leader Kahle Burns remains in the hunt, as do Jesse McKenzie and Jack Drake. The champion will be decided today.
