GOLD COAST CHAMPS: Burns fires-up on day 1A

The first edition of the Gold Coast Poker Championships is off to an impressive start at Jupiters Hotel and Casino with a day 1A field of 132 players in the $1100 buy-in Main Event.

The day finished with 62 players progressing to tomorrow’s (Saturday’s) day 2. Chip leader was Kahle Burns on 89,600 with other notables still in the hunt including Octavian Voegele, Minh Nguyen, last week’s ANZPT Darwin winner Jack Drake, 2009 Aussie Millions $1000 Mixed Hold’em winner Adam Peck, Luke Edwards, 2001 Australasian Championships runner-up Eric Sclavos and Aussie poker pioneer Darryl “The Dazzler” Lanyon.
