WESTERN CLASSIC: Nadeem is livin’ the Main Event dream

The Western Classic Main Event is underway at Burswood Entertainment Complex with a typically tough field of Western Australia’s finest players turning out for a shot at this iconic Aussie poker title.

Some of the big names who turned out included local favourites John Corr, Dale Marsland and Paul Sharbanee along with Player of Series leader Jovan Scekic, Sapphire Series Main Event third-place finisher Andrej Senic and final table regular Teddy Nguyen.

It was a slow start to the day but the action started to heat-up after the first break when Dale Marsland put his tournament life at risk against Nadeem Jahshan. Marsland’s small pair and flush draw was unable to improve after the flop against Jashan’s top pair.

Teddy ‘Time’ Nguyen also caused havoc on his table after calling a massive pre-flop all-In from Bryan Glynn. Glynn rolled over Ah 10h against Nguyen Ac 6s. Bang – a 6 hits on the flop for Nguyen and that’s all he needed to eliminate Glynn.

Only 15 players remain after day 1A of the Main Event with Nadeem Jahshan the chip leader with 83,850 in chips. It’s sure to be another massive day with more of Perth’s poker elite sure to hit the felt for their chance to be crowned Western Classic Main Event champion.
