After the success of its popular Newcastle Poker Championships, Aussie Hold’em Poker has announced the addition of a second major tournament series. The Spring Poker Championships will be held at Club Macquarie on October 5-9, comprising five events highlighted by the $110 buy-in Main Event with a $5000 guarantee.
Aussie Hold’em Poker managing director Marty Wooster said players were looking for another major regional tournament series: “The hugely successful 2011 Newcastle Poker Championships promoted many poker players to ask us for more than one series to be held in Newcastle each year. I urge all poker players to rise to the occasion and join us for 5 wonderful days of poker,” Wooster said.
Wooster also paid tribute to the team at Club Macquarie: “One of the main reasons the 2011 Newcastle Poker Championships were so successful was due to the fact that Club Macquarie embraces the true spirit of quality poker tournaments by allowing every event to draw to a natural conclusion with no “closing time” limitations,” Wooster said.
“This allows us to present tournaments with relaxed blind structures with plenty of levels and lots of time for players to “wait for the right cards to play” rather than being blinded out early. On top of that, Club Macquarie has great food, great services and even on-site accommodation.”
The highlight of the Spring Poker Championships is the two-day $110 buy-in Main Event to be played on October 8-9, featuring a guaranteed prizepool of $5000 with 30-minute blind levels and a 20,000-start stack. Then on Sunday, October 9, a prestigious $550 High Roller event has been scheduled, offering 30-minute blind levels, a 20,000-start stack, antes from level four and dealers at every table.
